Coupon Craze

so the new craze at our house is coupon shopping. I have been coupon shopping FOREVER but not all that great apprently. I started using Southersavers.com and WOW and some of the deals I have gotten. FREE stuff that I normally wouldn't of figured out. I went to Publix last week and got several items free. Today I went to Kroger. I left a whole lot more frustrated than I should of been. Maybe because it was a store I didn't know??? I usually shop at Ingles. But all in all I guess I still got a good deal. I spent $9.00 in crap I shouldn't of bought but with that said...my total was $43.00 and after coupons I spent $27. I guess that is still pretty good but not what I was hoping for. My original goal was $10.00 but I took my son with me. Very bad mistake...lol!

Today was our Fall Festival at work. It was so much fun. My door (and my buds that worked with it also) won First Place in the Overall decorating contest. Pictures to come. And then I entered the pumpkin decorating contest and won $100...first place...woohooo. It was fun!
But glad the day is over because I am TIRED! we have a long weekend ahead and not enough time

A little crafty goodness

I've been on a crafty roll this week. I love that.

This layout was designed with this months prompt at GutterGirlz.com. The prompts was Tender. Heart, the song Afraid or to use bra straps in your layout. I used a few lyrics from the song to go with my daughter and how we have been feeling lately.
This is my Twilight inspired painting. It's very 3-D'ish since I used texture paint. It is for sale if your interested. $30. It's a 11x14 stretched canvas.

This is my grandmothers house. Circa abt 1955-2007. This drawing was pretty hard to do. I think because of the emotional ties with it.

I decided to play a little bit with some jewelry yesterday. It was fun getting back into that and this was a little bit of a different piece for me. It is for sale if interested...$25

And finally....this is my grandmothers house BEFORE the rennovations on it...so circa 1877 - 1955 roughly. Not sure I am to happy with that oak tree but it was a part of the area and will be torn down soon I'm sure.
I have one more drawing on my table and it will be for the upcoming art show in April 2010. I got it sketched out and really want to take my time with this one so that it is just right.
Will have some more scrappy goodness for you come tomorrow using a sketch from Nutsaboutsketchs.com I hope you will like it. It's one of my favorites right now.
Well I got a no-go for the DT with Color Me Daisy. Saddened but its okay. I still have two more out there that I have applied for...Scrap-tastic.com and UrbanSwank. I would LOVE to work with either but UrbanSwank is so up my alley and I am really crossing my fingers. I need some scrappy uplifting. I did get in the mail and sign the contract for a layout to be in the Winter All American Crafts magazine. Really excited about that. Now to just get a few more picked up somewhere would be wonderful. It's hard getting back into the game. There is just so much talent out there....but...I'm not going to give up!.
It's been a quiet weekend...the boys hunting and Kayla working. But it's finally Sunday and they are on thier way home. Gotta get back into the swing of things with work next week. Can't believe this is the last week of October already. Just isn't right.

What....do I see the weekend

Just around the corner! YEAH! I can't wait. I have so much to do and the boys will be gone again so I can get TONS done. Love it.
Here is my layout for this weeks sketch #79 at Nutsaboutsketchs.com. I decided to not use a picture for this 12x6 layout and just journal about my kids growing up and time passing by so quickly. Another great way to use those Heidi Swapp clock pieces I have been holding on too :)
tomorrow I will post my layout from this months Gutter Girlz prompt!
Sadly didn't make a DT I tried out for. I have two more that I have sent applications in for and will wait patiently for the end of the month to see what happens. But.....sometimes you have to go come upon a bunch of no's before you hit a yes.
Not much going on this week actually...just trying to make it through without any major problems. So far so good.

What a great weekend

It has been a fun weekend. I got these ballerina shoes completed. I'm not going to mat or frame these until someone wants them. I think that is how I am going to do things now...just wait and see if someone asks for it because I just can't afford all these mat and frames...plus storing them all. I am going to work on a few more pictures today I think.

I spent all day yesterday being crafty. I loved it. By 9:30 I had already been to the grocery store, Michael's, Kohl's, got gas and found the sunday paper. By 3:00 I had completed 2 rag quilts, 1 purse and sewn pictures on another quilt. Now all I have to do is rag and wash the two finished ones. I also stayed up until 11 playing with genealogy stuff. So it was a GREAT day...oh and I got one layout completed and submitted it to a magazine.

The boys will be back this afternoon from their hunting trip. I am going to make homemade chili for supper and some rice krispie treats. Will work on some more genealogy this morning and maybe draw this afternoon. Some where in there I need to finish the quilts but we will see how it goes. My back is not my friend today after laying all in the floor with the quilts yesterday.

It's cold outside...nice and cold...I turned the heat on in the house and it just really feels like fall now. I love it. I can't believe the month is already winding down. My mom's birthday is tomorrow. Pretty soon mine will be around the corner.

Plugging through the week

Slowly but surely.

It's been doing nothing but raining here...yet again. Our ground is so full of water it is going to take 2 weeks of pure sunshine to dry it all up. It's crazy! I am officially sick of rain!

Check out NutsaboutSketchs this week and see what we all did with this weeks Sketch #78. I was going to upload mine but I think the kids moved my file so I need to go find it....Will do that tomorrow I promise. Oh wait....found it!! shewwww.....! I am working on Kayla's New York album so I loved this sketch and how I could use her airline tickets in place of pictures!
What's been going on this week.....well....
Lauren Grace was born today weighing 5lbs and 15 oz and only a 5-6 weeks early. Baby Lauren is in NICU and mom is doing great. So this makes me a GREAT AUNT! I am so excited. I can't wait to hold her. And I am excited because her Christmas present will just be PERFECT!
Had to take Kayla to the ER Sunday. It appears she had a concussion from a Thursday incident. All is okay and not much they could do. She seems a whole lot better now. Wish I would of read up on concussions and that there was nothing to do...would of saved us a few thousand dollars...but I guess better safe than sorry right....and now I know her head is harder than I originally thought...lol.
We finished decorating for Halloween at work. The office looks great. Now that it is done I can start working on my pumpkin for the pumpkin decorating contest.
The boys are heading hunting this weekend which is good for me so that I can finish these 3 quilts I have to make and get some projects finished. It is just easier to do when they aren't here.
My heart walk is just 17 days away and sadly I have only received $25 in donations. I have sucked in raising money this year. I am almost ashamed to even show up and walk BUT I will! Because it is for a good cause and because we all need healthy hearts!
Alright....off to bed I go. night night blog land

Made it through the show

Well I had my very first Arts and Crafts show yesterday. It was fun. The rain held off most of the day...the temp was just right. I sadly didn't sell anything but I got lots of comments which really made my day. But I want give up. I have LOTS of pictures that I need to part with so I will be checking into another show hopefully for next month. Maybe that one would do better.

Emily did great. She sold lots of candy thingies that were so cute. I wish we could of gotten her cans to move but I don't know if it was just the area and they aren't huge spenders? Not sure. anyway...maybe we can try Marietta and see how they are.

I'm thinking Christmas time is around the corner so someone somewhere needs gifts right :)

What a weekend

Well.....even though I was telling myself it wouldn't happen.....it did! My drawing entry made it into the local art show!!! I was soooo excited! Oh goodness no words to explain. I knew I couldn't win anything but just making it and having my work accepted into it was amazing!
This is the picture I took of my work hanging! Exciting huh!
Shawn celebrated his 16th birthday Friday. I can't beleive my baby is 16 already! Time is going by to fast that is for sure.
Attended the Thackston reunion Saturday and that was a lot of fun also!
Now to start a new week and get ready for my first Arts and Crafts festival and booth on Saturday!
