Altered Art with Glue Dots

Happy Glue dotting my friends.

Today I want to share with you a really cute and simple altered art piece using some of my favorite Glue Dots....Craft Dots®.

I found this tray at my local scrapbook store and knew right away how I wanted to alter it. There are so many options for you....gifts for the holidays, new baby, birthday or just because.

I cut out each rectangle out of coordinating patterned paper. Once I had the edges ink I adhered it down with Craft Dots. so simple. Add a few pictures. And then the fun part for me is adding the bling and the flowers. The bling already has adhesive on the back so I layered it where I wanted it to be. The flowers are handmade out of coordinating paper and adhered down by more Craft Dots.

This project took all of 25 minutes to put together and will be a great Altered piece to hang in my scraproom.

I hope you will give this project a try too. And don't forget to grab that box of Glue Dots :)

Glue Dots and Party ideas

Recently I tried my hand at a diaper cake for my daughters baby shower. I don't know what I would of done without Glue Dots Craft ® Dots! They were a life saver while trying to hold this thing together. Once I had all the diapers rolled up I was able to hold them together with a rubber band, but the wonderful dots then held the ribbon so that you could not make out the rubber band. To finish off the project I used the Glue Dots to hold the flowers that are attached to the ribbon. It really turned out to be a cute cake and everyone loved it. Give this project a try when you get a chance. It's fun, super quick, and a great gift for the hostess to take home.

My favorite layout using Glue Dots

We all have that one favorite layout don't you agree. Well, this is mine. This cutie is my neice's daughter, Lauren. I just HAD to scrap this picture of her. And at the time I was on a super flower kick. I have found that the best adhesive for me to use when dealing with flowers is the Glue Dots Craft ® dots. These dots hold so well. I also used Glue dots along the inside of the circle to hold it down on top of the bottom patterned paper.
This layout was also featured in Scrapbooking & Beyond.

I hope you will give Glue Dots a try on your next scrapbooking project.

Mothers Day gift ideas

Before you know it Mother's Day will be here. And if your like me you are always looking for that perfect gift to give that Mother or loved one.

Today I wanted to show you a quick and easy way to make a unique Mother's Day gift. My step son will be getting married in 4 short weeks. As I was making them a gift for their shower, I thought how cool this would be go make and give to her mom for Mother's Day. Not only would she be able to capture the moment of the wedding but this is so easy to adapt and add your own picture of your family.

And it literally only takes a few moments.

For this project I took the invitation and cut it down to fit the mat and frame.

Taking Glue Dot Glue Lines ®, adhere lines on the back side of the stems and then layer on top of the glass and frame. You can then move the limbs and butterflies into the position you want. This same technique can be used for flowers and other embellishments so that you can coordinate the colors any way you need them.
The Glue Lines are perfect for this project and hold the stems/flowers perfectly.

Earth Day Project Tutorial - Glue Dots

So today I am going to show you my very first tutorial :) I'm kinda nervous and hope you like it.
This project is based on Earth Day and how we can recycle items to make cute projects or gifts.

We will be using Glue Dots Permanent Dots for this project. Also needed are:
1 1/4 inch circle punch
Red, Pink and green pattern paper/cardstock
Black ink
Bone folder
Doilie
Cardboard
Misc recycled items (I used a starbucks oatmeal lid)
Floral wire
Ribbon
Chipboard letters

First I punched a bunch of circles out of my pink and red paper. Then inked the edges on both sides.
Once that is done....take the first circle and fold the top sides in until it forms a point. You will have a point as half the circle and the bottom half will remain a cirlce half. Now fold the sides in. So now you have a point and then the bottom half kinda looks like a rectangle. (I totally did not think abut taking pictures as I was making the circles..sorry about that). Here is where I then apply the glue dot....on the bottom of the circle. Use the bone folder to help you fold the bottom up to make a flower. You want just a little part of the point to show. They will look like little rose buds. (see the below picture for a visual). Now make a bunch of these...I made about 15 or so. It's okay to have extras. I did not use all the ones I made.

Once I was finished with all the flowers I took the starbucks oatmeal lid (white circle above) and began to put my flowers together. First I took the glue dots and layers about 3 in the center of the circle and cut floral wire into 4 inch stems. Then I layered them on top of the glue dots. Now it is time to layer your rose buds. Started at where you would like the base of your bouquet to be....using glue dots on the back, lay the first row of flowers. Then start on the second making sure to push the flowers, really good, behind the first row. Keep doing this until you have the bouquet looking like you want it to. Filling in all spaces. This is a good time to take your green cardstock and cut out leaves. I then cut those leaves in half and placed them in various areas in the flowers to help fill up space.

Cut your base of the bouquet out of the green cardstock. I just eyed it and cut making sure that it would cover the first row of flowers and then also cover the stems. I tore the top edge for an added distressed look. Using the Glue Dots, adhere this onto the flowers.

Now take your ribbon, slip it under the stems, and tie into a bow. This will help make the flowers look more like a bouquet.

I save everything...my husband can tell you that....so I scrummaged around and found some cardboard, cut the size that I wanted and then tore off the top layer - leaving the currogated part. Run your ink pad over the edges and the top for some added color and distress.

Now you can put your project together.
Using the Glue Dots...attach the doilie to the cardboard and then attach the starbucks lid (or what ever you decided to use for the base) to the doilie. I added some chipboard around the top and bottom to finish off this project.

I hope you enjoyed this...I know for the future to take a lot more pictures while I am putting something together but just had to share this with you with hopes that maybe you will try to make one of these too. It is a fun way to make a gift and to use up stuff laying around the house that normally would end up in the trash.

Using Glue Dots for Household Fixes

It amazes me daily what you can do with Glue Dots ®. Not only are they perfect for craft related projects but you can use them for everyday home fixes.

The other day while I was sewing, I had to keep changing the bobbin, which got pretty aggravating as it would go flying across the room. So I went and grabbed my box of Glue Dot ® Removable Dots and attached my bobbins to the sewing machine. That way I just would reach up and grab the one I wanted and didn't have to go searching across the room for it. Perfect!

Glue Dots and Spring

Awwhhhh Spring. It's really not that far away. And after dealing with a week of snow/ice on the ground. I can honestly say, which is odd since I love the winter, that I am ready for Spring. For the flowers to begin popping out of the ground. The birds coming back to nest. Getting out in the sun reading a book. So....I just had to jump at the change to make a spring project. To brighten up this winter just a tad.

I purchased these wooden flowers at my local craft store a few years ago. I didn't know what I would do with them until I was given the challenge to come up with something spring related. I started off by painting the areas that I knew I would not cover with paper. Once that was dry I traced the flowers onto my patterned paper, cut them out, and then adhered them with Glue Dots ® Craft Dots. The same process for the leaves. Then I used some black ink to ink all the edges. Cut out circles in coordinating patterns and distress the edges and add more ink. I then adhered the centers and buttons together with Glue Dots ® Mini Dots. The project was complete by adding some glitter snow in the pots. Now I have a cute flower display to make it feel like spring is here.
