A great start to the New Year

1.1.11 was a VERY productive day! I have spent a few hours this morning just editing what I completed yesterday for today's post. I got up at 6:30 and didn't stop until 10:30 last night. Quilting, painting, scrapbooking, cleaning, shopping...you name it and it was done. I just love productive days like that. Today will be a little less busy. I plan on scrapping one page for an upload on Thursday and the rest of the day will be spent working on this quilt. I would like to get it finished as far as the sewing part. That will leave just the binding to do late and then I want to get started on these throw pillows to see if I will like them at all.

so I want to share with you a few things that I have been working on.

First...Imaginisce put out a challenge yesterday to take something that was heading to the trash or in the recycle bin and alter it. What great timing. As I was cleaning yesterday I decided I would toss this box I bought many years ago since I had not done anything with it and it just was not inspiring me. Later on in the day I was putting away some paper that I recently purchased and yep...inspiration struck. So out of the trash it went.
And this would be the finished product. A Keepsake box that I will give Kayla at her baby shower this weekend so that she can keep little things of Danie's such as her hospital wrist bracelet, maybe her first hair cut, etc. I used 1 sheet of Imaginisce paper to cover this entire box. I was excited about that because I love this paper so much I hate cutting into it...lol. I also used some border strips and the Rollie Posie Flowers. I just love those things. I cut the stem out of felt and used the pink ribbon that was used on her diaper cake at the last baby shower. I also used the itop to make the buttons for the side lid and the ribbon center. I think it turned out pretty cute  myself.

What do you think?

On to the next projects. The other day I posted on facebook that I wanted people to tell me what color painting they wanted to see next. I'm not sure this was what they had in mind but this is what I painted. Purple Passion Abstract. Purple it sure is. A few different shades to be exact. Lots of texture on this one and I just so happened to have some big purple gems to add to it!

16x20 Canvas - $35.00

And finally my last painting for the evening. What inspired this one you ask....well I was making these fabric flowers in hopes to make pin cushions to sell on etsy. I couldn't figure out how to make a base for it so that it was a little more sturdy. They were so cute I just made more and more. But then had no earthy idea what to do with them. Then the painting struck....what about adding them to a canvas. So.....off I went to paint a background. Once it was dry I added the flowers. Not a typical painting but I thought it would be cute in a little kids room or a baby room. Just something whimsical.
Fabric Flower Garden - each canvas 11x14 - $25.00
So there we have it. That is "some" of my creations from yesterday. I have 3 more layouts to share with you but it will be later on in the week. I have one more layout to work on today and I can share that one with you Thursday. I hope New Years Day was a great day for you. I missed my hubby lots as he is hunting this weekend but will return today. Tomorrow will be an even busier day. My cat will be having surgery to remove a few cysts that we are praying are not cancerous. Shawn and I have some dentist appts and then Shawn has an eye appt. And I plan on ending the afternoon taking him to order his class ring. So busy day off from work but at least it will make it a very short work week. And the count down begins to little Danie. This week will be 6 weeks to go. Hopefully she will cook for those full 6 weeks but anticipation has set in. We have one last shower for Kayla this coming up Saturday. I can't wait to give her all the handmade items I have finished. I am pretty proud of each one of them :)
