From Trash to Treasure

The other day while at my dad's house I ran across this oak spindle that was about to be thrown in the trash. Well now....the crafter in me just could not see a good reason as to why this should be tossed. So I asked my dad to cut off a few areas and drill a hole in it since we were standing in his wood shop.

I already new what I wanted to do with it and couldn't wait to get started.
First I painted the spindle white and then took a damp cloth and wiped it down so that it had an antique look to it. I then took some Imaginisce border strips and glued them on the spindle using Glue Dots Mini Dots ®. Then I used Glue Dots Lines ® to adhere the ribbon along the top and bottom.

Using the Imaginisce flowers and Bazzill petals...I put together the flower parts and glued buttons to the center. Using the Glue Dots Lines ®, I was able to adhere the flower to the flower stem. I added a touch of hot glue to the stems so that they would stay put. Added some leaves. And now I have a very cute flower vase to use as my Easter Decorations at the house.

Super cute! The problem with living in California is that you rarely find cool stuff at your parents house... just not enough history here LOL
